Swedish Antic console table in pine, late XIX century.
Impressive Folkart swedish table/desk made in solid pine in the late XIX century. The table is composed by two wood crosses hold by four wood keys in total. The top of the consol table has an amazing patina. Overhall the table has no structural damage and has a really authentic and untouch patina that went trought centuries ! A true piece of swedish FolkArt. This is a great example of what inspired the mordern designers later on as Axel Einar Hjorth or Charlotte Perriand to do their folk art series. They wanted to come back to the source of the manner of doing furniture. This example looks a lot like the Lövo serie of Nordiska Kompaniet in sweden. A true piece of Art.

About Almoge style : It refers to the traditional folk art and everyday design of rural Sweden, mainly from the 17th to the 19th centuries. The word literally means “the common people,” and the style reflects how ordinary farmers and craftsmen shaped their surroundings with the materials, skills, and beliefs available to them.
Allmoge design is closely tied to handcraft and necessity. Furniture, textiles, tools, and household objects were made locally, often by the people who used them. Because resources were limited, objects were built to last, with solid construction and practical forms. At the same time, there was a strong desire to make everyday life beautiful, which led to rich decoration even on utilitarian items like chests, cupboards, chairs, and wooden boxes.
Visually, the style is known for bold color and ornamentation. Painted furniture commonly features deep reds (especially Falun red), blues, greens, yellows, and white, often arranged in floral patterns, geometric borders, or symbolic motifs. These decorations were not random; they were influenced by regional traditions, religious ideas, and seasonal cycles. Different parts of Sweden developed distinct allmoge expressions, so a painted chest from Dalarna looks noticeably different from one made in southern Sweden.
