About the designer : Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a Swedish designer best known for his innovative lighting designs. He's famous for using natural materials (thin wood veneer, brass, glass, fabric) and for creating lamps that reduce glare. His designs often feature: layered or louvered shades, warm, diffused illumination, organic forms and warm wood tones. His lamps are now highly collectible in the vintage and mid-century design markets.  Interest in his work has risen sharply in recent years as Scandinavian design from the 50s–70s has been rediscovered. Many of his original designs are still produced by specialty manufacturers.
